Read below about "More Than A Day's Work." Links to listen and buy are everywhere. New material is being worked on; news will come as it unfolds.
Sonic Score, my Finale copywork outfit will be going through some changes in the months ahead. While it will remain a notation service, it will also reside under the heading of "music service" (although I will come up with something more interesting than that!). I have been doing Pro Tools track work for people and since some people like to see their manuscripts realized into audio, those two services will be combined. Plus, it's just practical to place my non-performing services under one roof. Stay tuned for a brand new website and more information as things develop.
In 2006 I joined the backing band for country singer/songwriter Derek Sholl. Derek, a Southern California native, played around the area, and did shows in Las Vegas at the Mirage opening for Jay Leno. Now Derek is a Texas resident and working to get his music out to a wider audience. We played gigs in Oklahoma City at the Wormy Dog (opening for Tracy Byrd), and at the Texas State Fair, opening for Lee Ann Womack. His CD, "Don't Threaten Me With A Good Time " has been released; check out iTunes or CD Baby to listen, and his site for the most current info. You can catch a video here of a live webcast we did in Las Vegas, along with some live footage at other venues (you'll have to do some looking around). Derek's site has also been redesigned and updated so have a look! He's also just released a new single called "Here" and will be performing it at Wolfdance 2008, sponsored by 99.5 The Wolf.
Aside from Derek's gig, I have a cover band called Reality Bites. Formed two years ago, we have been playing out since Halloween 2006. We are going through another personnel change, as bassist Scott Warren leaves Texas for a more easterly location. Joining us will be David DeShazo, of The Spread and The Project, and on occasional gigs, James Driscoll of Shibboleth and Chomsky. Check out our website, sign up for our mailing list, and view our My Space page.
"More Than A Day's Work" was released in September 2004. You can preview tracks here on this site, and purchase via CD Baby, Kool Kat Musik, Not Lame Records or directly on my My Space page. Here are a few reviews:
"More Than a Day's Work is a mini-album of original songs, stylistically somewhere between XTC, The Beach Boys and early Todd Rundgren, but with a more modern bent. Recorded with members of Chomsky, the album also includes a cover of “Ballet for a Rainy Day”, originally recorded for the King For a Day XTC MP3 tribute, but remixed for this album. These are catchy tunes!"--chalkhills.org
"Dane Petersen - More Than A Day's Work - Whoa! Anyone who's a fan of the last effort from Tears For Fears, Jellyfish or the Beach Boys should go here now. Although only a six song EP, it's pure pop heaven."--Kurt's Krap
"If Dane Petersen's 6 song EP is a hint of what is to come, we can't wait for a full length CD! A perfect example that less can be more, and that when it is all said and done, it is all about the song, and Dane Petersen is all about the song. If you miss out on this one, you are missing out on one of the nicest surprises of the year."--Popbang Radio
